Teenagers

Adolescence is often a difficult and confusing time for young people and parents alike. The social world becomes increasingly complex with peer and romantic relationships taking on more importance.

At the same time, conflict between parents and young people can also increase, as young people seek to become more independent from their families. The popularity of social media such as Facebook and Twitter has added a further dimension which has resulted in peer relationships being more accessible and present in the family home.

Of course, academic demands also add to the pressure on young people and their families.

Given these pressures, it is not surprising that adolescence is a key risk period for the development of many mental health problems.

Nick has expertise in helping young people and their families deal with mental health difficulties that arise in this period.
