About Nick

Dr. Nick Richardson is a clinical psychologist with over 10 years experience in research and practice in developmental psychology. Nick provides specialist care for mental health issues in children and youth as well as adults with relationship and/or parenting concerns.
Nick has particular expertise in mental health difficulties in life stages, such as school transition, emerging adolescence, young adulthood, and forming families. He works closely with individuals and families to provide support and guidance through such transitions, which can be on a long-term basis when needed.
Nick is member of the clinical college of the Australian Psychological Society and in addition to his private practice is employed in a Child & Youth Mental Health Service through which he has provided consultations and professional development to other organisations. He also offers these services in his private consulting. Outside his clinical work, Nick has extensive research experience in areas of child development, parenting after separation, and child protection.

 

Approach

Nick has a collaborative approach that includes the young person, parents/carers and, if necessary, other services such as schools to develop a shared understanding of the issues of concern and helpful solutions.
